Project Details

Role: Executive Architect

Client: Beard Construction

Contract Value: £12m

This project was on site and two weeks from contractor placing the order for the SFS when we were approached by Beard to review and provide initial comments on the concept architects proposals.

The intention was to assist with the backlog of details and packages that needed to be resolved and coordinated with the design team and subcontractors and suppliers to enable key orders to be placed with confidence.

The advisory role eventually transformed to being appointed as the project architects by the client and contractor to ensure key objectives such as waterproofing, acoustics and thermal performance requirements were met, and the buildings fire strategy was holistically integrated and adhered to.

Activities:

  • Initial review of construction drawings in terms of compliance with cold bridging, acoustic and fire performance requirements.

  • Commented on the concept architects general coordination details.

  • Resolved the external cladding in regards to buildability, sequencing and structural, thermal and acoustic performance requirements.

  • Liaised directly with the concept architects, engineer and galzing subcontractor to resolve coordiantion issues between the glazing and the cladding.

  • Commented and prepared details for complex systems and material intersections.

  • Ensured compliance with Building Regulations and ERs.
